According to the new Housing Stimulus Law passed last month, many down payment assistance programs will not operate as they have in the past beginning October 1. A federal tax credit for first-time home buyers will be available, but home buyers planning to take advantage of down payment assistance programs and in the process of closing or searching for the perfect home need to act fast. Homes must close by September 30, 2008 in order to receive financial support from many programs.

The Nehemiah Program has given over $187 million dollars to help Georgian’s go from potential home buyers to homeowners.
